Justin's White Coat Ceremony

A few weeks ago Justin had his white coat ceremony. This marks his entry into the clinical phase of his dental education (so now he will get to practice on real people instead of the plastic mannequins). He starts in March with denture patients--because it's harder to mess up teeth when there aren't any. Ironically, they won't wear these coats when working on patients--they use disposable blue ones, instead. The next time he wears this coat will be when he graduates.

The ceremony was nice and simple, just the way we wanted it. A few short talks about the purpose of the white coat and professional integrity, and then they handed out the coats. They all recited the dentist's pledge and that was it.

Some people celebrated this moment by going out for drinks or to a restaurant for dinner. As for us, we stopped by Church's Chicken for dinner and picked up a redbox movie for the night. We were tired.
