Since living in Dallas, we have gone to all of the BYU vs. TCU basketball games with the youth in our ward through a Stake sponsored activity (2009 and 2010). We thought this year would be the same. However, a month ago we learned that the Stake would be focusing on other activities and not going to the game, right after all the tickets had sold out.
Justin frantically looked on StubHub.com and Craigslist trying to find tickets, with no real luck (I suppose if we wanted to pay more than $100 per ticket we could have gotten tickets a while ago). The days ticked down with no luck. Then comes Wednesday night around 9:30 pm--Justin finds a posting on Craigslist: someone in Fort Worth has 4 tickets that he'll sell to us for $120. We drove out to Fort Worth and bought them right away (it's a 45 minute drive each way--we got home around 11:30 pm). [I've drastically cut down the details--which you can get from Justin, if you wish.] We were exhausted the next day, but we couldn't miss out on seeing our team play.
We went to the game and had a great time. Although it wasn't the "Jimmer show" we were expecting (he did still put up an ugly 23 points), BYU easily won the game.
We had a busy Saturday morning before the game (IKEA trip...more on that later), but we had time to pick up 2 pieces of poster board and made these 2 signs in the parking lot. Justin gets the credit for putting a Jimmer/BYU-twist on these hymns.
Here's a shot of Jimmer giving an interview after the win.
After the game, we met in TCU's football practice facilities and Coach Dave Rose
talked with us for a few minutes...
...as well as Kyle Collinsworth and Logan Magnusson.
We're glad that we got to go to the game and had a great time. Unfortunately, it may be the last time we see them play here at TCU, but if they come again, we'll make sure to get tickets well in advance.
LOVE the signs!!! I am impressed that you guys found tickets. We tried desperately and couldn't find anything less than $250. You will have to tell me all about being in the presence of Jimmer some time.=)
