The Days after Nemo

Here's the continuation on winter storm Nemo:

After first exploring the huge piles of snow, Nolan came inside for a nap and Justin continued shoveling snow with our landlord. After 3+ hours of shoveling and the help of a snow blower, they managed to clear most of the driveway and a small path to the front door. The road was still completely covered though, so we weren't going anywhere.

The accumulated snow was taller than Nolan!

We played a little more in the snow...

...but it was still very windy.

So, we warmed up inside with hot chocolate.

Church was cancelled Sunday morning (we wouldn't have been able to make it, anyway), and so we played out in the snow again. Nolan quickly learned to say, "Boots" and "Side" to indicate he wanted to go outside and play in the snow.

And while I didn't mind being snowed in and not being able to go anywhere, some neighbors were getting in trouble for not showing up for work.  The city snow plows had not come and they were determined to clear the road.  A few people used their snowblowers to clear a large path, and the rest of us helped with shovels.

But with all that snow, there was a limited amount of space to put it. 

Quite a lot of it ended in front of our mailbox.

After some sunshine on Sunday afternoon, the road was very passable.  

Unfortunately, this meant Justin had to go back to work on Monday.

And Nolan was left with a large pile of snow to play in.

He didn't like walking on it and it was too crunchy to make a snowman, but he would transport little balls of snow from one area to another.

On Thursday, a city tractor finally came to help with the snow removal.  The road became wide enough for two cars to pass again and they cleared that snow from in front of our mailbox.  But there is still so much snow! I have a feeling this is not going away any time soon.
